I don’t get star struck by too many people… I mean, of course I love a good celebrity sighting like anyone, but it’s not really my thing.
Unless it’s Sebastian Junger. Mr. Junger was in Gloucester this week to talk about his new book “Tribes” On Homecoming and Belonging. I happen to be reading it right now, and like everything he’s written, it reads like a brisk war report, mixed with a deeply researched thesis – with a poem running through it. It is heartfelt and is so relevant for right now. Maybe I’m so engaged because I am finally getting around to watching Homeland, and can think of nothing else, but it seems like fate. Or like it could have been. I wish I’d known he was going to be in town so I could go… do what exactly… offer him my useful feedback & heartfelt adulation?, assist NBC’s Willie Geist in assembling questions? get my book signed?(that would have been nice!). I don’t know – but knowing he was at the Crow’s Nest just an hour or so before I sauntered by to pick up my pizza at Delaney’s… well, it just feels like I missed out.
